pajamas / pyjamas – sleeping clothes

jump out of the loop  – get out of that group / get away from that circle of people 

arrogant – full of himself – obsessed with yourself / always talking about yourself
eg. he’s full of himself

prior to that –

mentally stable – not crazy

sth you’re pursuing = you must have some agenda 

immoral – bad / not moral

adultery – to sleep with someone outside of your marriage
eg. adultery is immoral but not illegal

self respect – to respect yourself
eg. I have a lot of self respect

it has nothing to do with – it’s not related to

nerve wracking (adj) – makes you nervous
eg. doing a test can be nerve wracking / it is nerve wracking so I feel really nervous

abstain – to stay silent / not offer a vote
eg. i abstained from the vote

pointless / useless / meaningless homework – waste of time

well adjusted – mentally and emotionally healthy / balanced
eg. I have good parents so i’m very well adjusted

behind closed doors – privately
eg. my mum supported me in front of others but behind closed doors she would punish me

comfortable zone – comfort zone 

hit / smack – to physically punish your kids
eg. my parents never smacked me

i’m easy to read – open / always show my emotions

i’m allergic to sth / i have some food allergies
