1. Choose an English book that you like. We will read some passages from the book and talk about the story.

I can’t speak it. -> I don’t know how to say it.

Catched some crabs. -> Caught some crabs.

I swimming in the swimming pool in there. -> I swam in the swimming pool in the hotel. (past tense)

He always crying -> He always cries.

I ~~says~~ what is it doing -> I say, “what is it doing?”

Today my mother go with me. -> Today, my mother went with me. (use past tense for things that happened already).

That is ~~alls~~ -> That is all.

I play in the garden -> I played in the garden.

kindergarten -> the class children go to right before first grade, when they are 5 years old.

preschool -> school for very young children, like 3 or 4 years old.

kinds -> types, 不同的内容，不同的种类

ex: Different kinds of fruit; What kinds of TV shows do you like?

confusing -> 不清楚，不懂

ex: The book was very confusing because I didn’t know many of the words.

vocabulary – words and what they mean

ex: I need to learn new vocabulary so that I will understand more English.

textbook – a book used for learning, for class

ex: The students had to carry many textbooks to school.

graduate – 毕业, to finish a school

ex: He graduated from high school last year, and now he is in college.

degree／diploma – 毕业证, after college you get a degree. after high school, you get a diploma.

squash – 西葫芦

duck blood – 鸭血

Japan – 日本

Japanese – adjective, use it when describing things from Japan, like Japanese food, Japanese people, Japanese books, Japanese movies

sushi – small pieces of seafood along with rice

Seafood – food that came from the ocean, 海鲜

salmon – 三文鱼

tuna – 金枪鱼

think – put your tongue in between your teeth when you say the “th” sound
