Grammar
I receive request from the product designer and I will communicate with factory. -> I receive requests from the product designer and I will communicate with factories.
So to make example based on his or hers request. -> So to make examples based on his or her/their requests.
A lot of change need to be made. -> A lot of changes need to be made.
“What do you do for work?” -> when someone asks you this question or a similar question, usually you want to just start with the most general information first and see what sort of follow-up questions they ask you.
Anything that you or me feel interested -> Anything that you or I feel interested in. Anything that you or I find interesting. Anything that interests you or me.
Vocabulary
pigeon-hole – when you force a person, idea or thing to be only that one specific thing and aren’t flexible with it.
ex: Jackie Chan is often pigeon-holed as a martial arts actor.
go down the/that “rabbit hole”
ex: I didn’t have enough time to go down the rabbit hole that is Reddit.
occupy – to take up some space, whether physical or figurative
ex: The Smith family is huge and occupied most of the restaurant.
preoccupy – usually talking about people or one’s mind, when they are already engaged in some activity
ex: While I was cutting vegetables, my mind was preoccupied by what my children were doing, and I accidentally cut myself.
ex: My husband was talking to me, but I was too preoccupied with my TV show to notice.
nuance – a very small detail in something.
ex: There are a lot of nuances in Beethoven’s music.
literal – actually exists, or is real, or is exactly as is stated
ex: I didn’t mean for you to literally jump out of the window!
figurative – doesn’t actually exist, a conceptual or a figurative way to describe something.
ex: It is good to add figurative details to your writing to make it more interesting.
figurine – small figure in the sense of a toy
figure – 1. body shape. 2. someone who is well known within a community. 3. commonly a toy of some character. 4. verb: to find the solution to something;
sort it out – usually used to express rearranging things or a mess in a neater way
ex: The copy machine broke and sent everyone’s copies flying. We had to spend a lot of time to sort it all out.
figure it out – when you have a problem that needs a solution
ex: The detective spent most of the year figuring out one case.
his and her’s – used when speaking about things for a married or engaged or dating couple
ex: Jack and Judy went and bought matching his and her’s engagement rings.
