Grammar

present simple – 一般现在时
is/am/are; do/does
state a general fact; talk about an action that happens often
i.e. I am a teacher.
i.e. I go to school every day.
i.e. She is a crazy girl.
i.e. She goes to clubs every night.

present continuous – 现在进行时
is/am/are + doing
emphasize an action that is happening right now
i.e. I am typing on my computer right now.
i.e. You are listening to me right now.
i.e. I am thinking about which restaurant to eat after class.

present perfect – 现在完成式
have/has + done
talk about something that happened in the near past that has an effect on the present
i.e. I have finished my homework just now.
i.e. I have gotten my package before last class so we can use it now.
i.e. I have finished my dinner two minutes ago.

past simple – 一般过去时
was/were; did
stating a fact about the past, talking about something that happened in the past
i.e. I was a student two years ago.
i.e. He was a girl before he came back from Thailand.

past continuous – 过去进行时
was/were + doing
emphasize an action that was happening during a specific time in the past
i.e. I was sleeping when you called.
i.e. You were eating when I came in the door.
i.e. She was watching the movie when you wanted to share some information to her.

past perfect – 过去完成式
had + done
state something that happened in the past that had an effect on the past
i.e. I had already read the book before she gave it to me.
i.e. You had eaten at this restaurant before it closed.
i.e. I had finished reviewing this passage of the book before the teacher told us to finish it.

future simple – 一般将来时
will + be/do
state a fact about the future, state something that will happen in the future
i.e. I will go home after class.
i.e. You will go have dinner after class.
i.e. She will have a date after this meeting.

future continuous – 将来进行时
will be +doing
emphasize an action that will be happening at a specific time in the future
i.e. I will be sleeping at 12 o’clock.
i.e. I will be having dinner later tonight when you call.
i.e. At the same time tmr, she will be doing exercise in the gym.

future perfect – 将来完成时
will have + been/done
predict something that will be finished in the future
i.e. My homework will have been done tmr afternoon.
i.e. I will have finished my homework tmr afternoon.
i.e. COVID-19 will have been defeated in 2021.
