herbal (ADJ)  medicine

Do you know what herbs were in the medicine?

I just know the Chinese names of them.

respiratory system – your breathing system in your body

eg: The doctor gave me some herbal medicine for my respiratory problems. I have a bad cough.

side effect (N.) – unintended result of doing another thing

eg: Some side effects of typing and staring at the screen too much can be backaches, sore eyes, and carpel tunnel syndrome (sore and painful fingers from typing).

eg: A side effect of business meetings is a hangover or a beer belly.

What is a side effect of globalization?

A side effect of globalization is people can eat different food from different countries. People know everything on time. – People can share information instantly.

findings – results of a study, or research

eg: I got a finding that the competitor who has the lowest price won more projects.  – Our findings show, that the competitor who has the lowest price won more projects.

a hangover – the feeling you have the next morning after you were drinking (alcohol) the night before

eg: I have a bad hangover.

eg: If you drink enough water, you will not get a hangover.

thumb – your shortest finger, most flexible

eg: My thumb gets sore easily from typing.

mess with (sth. or someone) – disrupt or cause problems with, because it’s funny, or because you want them to have problems

eg: I told my son not to mess with the air conditioner.

eg: Coffee can mess with people’s stomachs. It messes with my stomach.

soothe (V.) – to reduce pain or uncomfortable feeling

eg: The medicine soothes my throat and helps my lungs feel better.
