guess  (V.) Upgraded —> speculate – we don’t know the reason, just guess without any info

eg: She could only speculate on why her friend didn’t come to her wedding.

eg: People think China will ban all cheese, but it’s probably just wild speculation.

guess (N.) Upgraded —> theory – an idea that is suggested or presented as possibly true but that is not known or proven to be true

eg: I have a theory why the winter is longer this year.

eg: I have a theory why Rooney, the football player from England, can make a huge amount of money. Because he resigned from Everton club and signed a new contract with Manchester United.
