How to ALWAYS use THE:     Used to Specify, To say which one/thing/things

The 8:00Am train to Guangzhou was late.

The taxi I took to work went the wrong way.

Mark’s Examples:

The phone I used was broken this morning.

The 8am flight from Beijing to Huai An took off.

When you Don’t use THE:    If it was already specified

My train was late.

That train is too slow, let’s take the maglev train

Things to Remember:    Use The,   1. When it is clear which one    2.  When it is Obvious which one  3. When you have already specified which one
