I think not every problem can be solved by consumerism
1 year ago a beauty brand made a slogan like if you are not feeling happy you should buy a lipstick for yourself it will make you happier.
Many people pretending they have a good life on social media, that is definitely increased customers.

My hometown extracts oil and everyone comes from different cities to work in factories so everyone speaks mandarin.

Writing exercise

I want to talk about my favorite English podcast, named HOW DID I GET HERE, produced by DIVE studios, a podcast production studio from South Korea / a South Korean podcast studio. The host is Jea, a man who grew up in LA, now he is a musician in a K-pop band/group.

The show’s concept is: we live our best lives on the internet and come out the other side knowing more but not feeling all that much smarter. Every episode will discuss / have a discussion on one question, for example: “Mandela effect”, “Do video games make you smarter?”, “why should I sleep?” and so on.

This time, I want to pick this topic: what are the benefits of bilingualism / being bilingual.

For Jea, the first point is: he believes being bilingual is good for your brain to activate at old age / it keeps your brain healthy / it prevents your brand from decaying , because as soon your brain starts to decay  your body will start giving up / to have problems. The second point is bilingualism helps children develop better social skills.

And because  I didn’t  grow up with bilingualism / I didn’t grow up bilingual, so I’m really curious about what’s the feeling of being bilingual? For me, I have been learning English a few months, I feel when I was speaking, I couldn’t  think in Chinese and English at the same time.
