Vocabulary

Pangaea – The first major continent of land on earth

Climate Change – What we say now when we talk about the climate of the world changing.  Like global warming, but sometimes it gets colder too, and sometimes it is just more violent storms.

Billion – 1,000 Million. (One thousand, one million, one billion).

Rheas – (Riyas) A big bird that is from South America

Ostriches – A big bird that is from Africa

Emu – A big bird that is from Australia

Tibet – (Xizang) A province in the west of China

Avalanche – When snow falls from a mountain

GPS – Global Positioning System – Something that tells us where we are using computers.

Himalayas – (Him a lay yas) The largest mountain range in Asia

Pronunciation

Think – not “sink”

I Wonder Why the Wind Blows

We read Page 6-9 and learned the new vocabulary above.  Dorothy is very curious about how the world works and knows a lot!  Her English is very advanced for her age.
