Why do we buy things? As a woman, I also like shopping. Sometimes I feel that there’s no buzz quite like the one that comes with an impulse purchase. Especially, when I feel down, I often turn to shopping to find some comfort. However, I often realize that the negative emotions can come back along with guilty if I spend more than I should or I had planned to.

Some experts said that we should learn how to control our emotions by way of “focusing on feelings of gratitude and compassion for every small thing in our daily lives or just buy some things for someone else instead of ourselvesâ€, either of which will help us keep distance with impulsive purchase on one hand and experience the long lasting wellbeing feelings on the other hand.

I feel that will be difficult. Immediate reward is always more attractive than something we can get in the future. The buzz coming with shopping is difficult to refuse. I think maybe it will be much easier that you just prepare a shopping list, which specifies something you think necessary but you can buy later. Then next time when you want to go shopping because of bad mood, you can just buy the stuff on the list.
