Go to www.breakingnewsenglish.com, choose an article and read it carefully. After that, write a paragraph about it, trying to make longer sentences, with more than one verb. Make sure you also write down all the words you don’t understand, so we can discuss them next class.

Vocabulary

Shed (v): 1- to lose a covering, such as leaves, hair, or skin, because it falls off naturally, or to drop something in a natural way or by accident.
E.g.: The trees shed their leaves in autumn.
E.g.: Poodles tend to shed less than other dogs.

Depression (n): 1- a mental illness in which a person is very unhappy and anxious (= worried and nervous) for long periods and cannot have a normal life during these periods. 2- the state of feeling very unhappy and without hope for the future.
E.g.: Tiredness, loss of appetite, and sleeping problems are all classic symptoms of depression.
E.g.: I was overwhelmed by feelings of depression.

Therapy (n): 1- a treatment that helps someone feel better, grow stronger, etc., especially after an illness.
E.g.: Joining a club can be a therapy for loneliness.

Affect (v): 1- to have an influence on someone or something, or to cause a change in someone or something:
E.g.: Both buildings were badly affected by the fire.

Effect (n): 1- the result of a particular influence,
E.g.: I tried taking tablets for the headache but they didn’t have any effect.

I dont think it is a good idea to allow the supporting animals in dorm rooms. I know it will be convienient to the people who need helping from the supproting animals. But there are many people who have allergic reactions to animals. Around the world an estimated one in three human stffer from allergies. Staying with animals will effect their health. And this kind of prople also need a safe dorm to live in because they paid for it and they have the same right to ues the room. i think it might be better to keep the supporting animals stay in some specific areas but not the the dorm or at least to ask the approvel from their roommates’ befor bring the animals into the dorm.

This kind of people also need a safe dorm to live in, because they have paid for it and have the same right to use the room. I think it might be better to keep the supporting animals in some specific areas, but not the the entire dorm, or at least to ask for the approval from their roommates before bringing the animals into the dorm.
