Vocabulary

Former (adj): 1-  of or in an earlier time; before the present time or in the past
E.g.: My former boss was very mean, and that’s why I decided to quit my job.
E.g.: At my former job I was an English teacher at Jing’An Primary School

Current (adj): 1- of the present time (=now).
E.g.: Have you seen the current Vogue magazine?
E.g.: I hated my former boss, but my current one is a lovely person to work with!

Speaking exercise

Original:

I like Shanghai and I like my hometown Xiamen. A few years ago I came here to study university. I like designing, so I came to Shanghai to study design, and then I work in here. I like this fast city and I think I can spent less time to study more, but I think I will come my hometown after few years because my family in here and because it’s a sea city. I like sea very much and I think it’s a relaxing city.

I like Shanghai and I like my hometown, Xiamen. I really like design, so a few years ago I came to Shanghai to study it at university. Since then I‘ve been working here. I like the fast pace of this city and I think I can learn more in less time here, but I think I will go back to my hometown in a few years. My family is  there and the city is by the sea, which makes it a a relaxing place to live.
