Vocabulary

Sober (n): 1- not drunk or affected by alcohol. 2- serious and calm.
E.g.: Are you sober enough to drive, Jim?
E.g.: In fact the whole wedding was a sober affair – no dancing, just people standing around in groups chatting politely.

Metaphor (n): 1- an expression, often found in literature, that describes a person or object by referring to something that is considered to have similar characteristics to that person or object.
E.g.: “The mind is an ocean” and “the city is a jungle” are both metaphors.

Toxic (adj): 1- poisonous.
E.g.: The company was accused of throwing toxic waste in the river.

Hidden (adj): 1- not easy to find.
E.g.: There were hidden microphones in the room to record their conversation.

Coward (n): 1– a person who is not brave and is too eager to avoid danger, difficulty, or pain:
E.g.: He hated himself for being such a coward.

Despise (v): 1- to feel a strong dislike for someone or something.
E.g.: The two groups despise each other.
E.g.: She despised him for the way he treated her sister.
E.g.: He despised himself for being such a coward.

Drive (n): 1- a strong desire to do things and achieve something; great energy. 2- the thing that makes something possible.
E.g.: He’ll do very well. He has tremendous drive.
E.g.: Manufacturing is one of the main drives of economic development in China.

Advertising is a very popular culture industry in the world. Whenever you go you can see diverse advertisements. You can see them on TV, on the streets, and you can see them everywhere. I like the advertisements which has educative meaning and I also like advertisements with creatives ideas. Some advertising drive a lot of industries developing. It takes a lot of values but sometimes advertisements have something bad influence on people. People watch them and don’t think carefully about the truth, they are easy to believe in the advertisements, so that they can’t judged by themselves.

You can see them on TV, on the streets, and basically anywhere. I like advertisements which are educational and creative and think that they are a drive for the development of a lot of industries.

Although they bring a lot of value, sometimes advertisements might have a bad influence on people. Some people might watch them and not think carefully about the truth, so that they can’t judge things by themselves.
