Preserve (v): 1- to keep something as it is, especially in order to prevent it from decaying or being damaged or destroyed.
E.g.: The government is creating new policies to help preserve the environment.
Endangered (adj): 1- in danger of being harmed, lost, unsuccessful, etc.. 2- endangered animals/ or plants may soon disappear, because there are very few now alive.
E.g.: Social workers who look after abused or endangered children often have stressful days at work.
E.g.: The organization protects endangered animals and plants.
Character (n): 1- the particular combination of qualities in a person or place that makes them different from others.
E.g.: Politeness is traditionally part of the British character.
E.g.: It would be very out of character (= not typical) of her to lie.
Sanity (n): 1- the state of having a healthy mind and not being mentally ill.
E.g.: He’d been behaving so strangely that they began to doubt/question his sanity.
Sane (adj): 1- having a healthy mind and not mentally ill. (≠ Insane)
E.g.: In the doctor’s opinion he was sane at the time of the murder.
Darken (v): 1- to become dark.
E.g.: After laying in the sun for half an hour, her skin finally began to darken.
Suntan/Tan (n/v): 1- pleasantly brown skin caused by being in the hot sun:
E.g.: She’s was showing off her suntan in a little white dress.
E.g.: Chinese people do not like to tan.
Wrinkle (n): 1- a small line in the skin caused by old age:
E.g.: She has fine wrinkles around the eyes.
Radiation (n): 1- 辐射
Sunblock (n): 1- 防晒霜
