Vocabulary

Rule (n): 1- an accepted principle or instruction that states the way things are or should be done, and tells you what you are allowed or are not allowed to do.
E.g.: Before you start your own business you should be familiar with the government’s rules and regulations.
E.g.: You must follow the rules.

Exception (n): 1- someone or something that is not included in a rule, group, or list or that does not behave in the expected way.
E.g.: Men are usually quite good at map-reading but Tim is the exception.
E.g.: There are exceptions to every rule.

Neutral (adj): 1- not saying or doing anything that would encourage or help any of the groups involved in an argument or war.
E.g.: If there’s an argument between my daughter and her mother, it’s important that I remain neutral.

Curiosity (n): 1- an eager wish to know or learn about something. (adj: Curious)
E.g.: I’m burning with curiosity – you must tell me who won!

Initiate (v): 1- to cause something to begin.
E.g.: Who initiated the violence?
E.g.: I’m really shy, so it’s really difficult for me to initiate conversations.

Adaptable (n): 1- able or willing to change in order to suit different conditions.
E.g.: The survivors in this life seem to be those who are adaptable to change.

Superior (adj): 1- better than average or better than other people or things of the same type:
E.g.: This is clearly the work of a superior artist.
E.g.: She was chosen for the job because she was the superior candidate.

Picky (adj): 1- Someone who is picky is very careful about choosing only what they like.
E.g.: The children are such picky eaters.
E.g.: Big companies are picky about who they hire.
