Vocabulary

Vocation (n): 1- a type of work that you feel you are suited to doing and to which you should give all your time and energy, or the feeling that a type of work suits you in this way.
E.g.: I feel I’ve found my true vocation.
E.g.: Most teachers regard their profession as a vocation, not just a job.

Discipline (n/v): 1- training that makes people more willing to obey or more able to control themselves, often in the form of rules, and punishments if these are broken, or the behavior produced by this training. 2- the ability to control yourself or other people, even in difficult situations. 3- to punish someone.
E.g.: There should be tougher discipline in schools.
E.g.: Maintaining classroom discipline (= control of the students) is the first task of every teacher.
E.g.: A senior army officer has been disciplined for revealing secret government plans to the media.

Privilege (n): 1- an advantage that only one person or group of people has, usually because of their position or because they are rich. (adj: Privileged)
E.g.: The ability to recognize our own privileges is something that shows strong character.
E.g.: We need to understand how privileged we are, before we judge other people for the way they live their lives.

Empathy (n): 1- the ability to share someone else’s feelings or experiences by imagining what it would be like to be in that person’s situation.
E.g.: It’s important to exercise empathy as often as we can.

Middle Class (n): 1- 中产阶级
