Vocabulary

Elaborate (adj/v): 1- containing a lot of careful detail or many detailed parts. 2- to add more information to or explain something that you have said.
E.g.: They’re making the most elaborate preparations for the wedding.
E.g.: The congresswoman said she was resigning, but refused to elaborate on her reasons for doing so.

Refund (v/n): 1- an amount of money that is given back to you, especially because you are not happy with a product or service that you have bought.
E.g.: I took the radio back to the shop and asked for a refund.

Non-refundable (adj): 1- used to describe money that you pay that you cannot get back
E.g.: Spring Airlines tickets are cheaper, but they’re non-refundable.

Screw (v): 1- to cheat or deceive someone.
E.g.: It was only after we’d had the car for a few days that we realized we’d been screwed by the dealer.

Assault (n): 1- a violent attack.
E.g.: He was charged with sexual assault.
E.g.: They launched an assault on the capital yesterday.

Domestic Violence (n): 1- the situation in which someone you live with attacks you and tries to hurt you.
E.g.: He was charged (accused) for domestic violence.

Next month our company will hold an exhibition in Shanghai. Our manager recommended a hotel called Intercontinental to me and asked me to book a room for our boss. I called at the hotel directly and asked them about room rates. It was about 2200 yuan per night. This was happened a week ago. Yesterday my Filipino colleague sent a website link via WeChat to my manager. On the website, the room rate is just 200 yuan per night. My manager argued me with this and I don’t know how reply her. It seems my Filipino colleague is doubting my work and pisses me off.
