Today we focused on grammar and pronunciation.

Vocabulary

Dependent (adj): 1- needing the support of something or someone in order to continue existing or operating.
E.g.: He has three dependent children.
E.g.: Karamay is very dependent on the oil industry.

Fun (adj): 1- enjoyable. 2- 有趣好玩.
E.g.: I think hiking is really fun.
E.g.: There are lots of things to do here.

Funny (adj): 1- causing laughter. 2- 滑稽
E.g.: Do you know any funny jokes?
E.g.: It’s a really funny film.
E.g.: It’s not funny – don’t laugh!

Petroleum (n): 1- 石油

I live in Karamay for eighteen years. My grandfather generation came to Xingjiang from Sichuan. At the first Karamay has nothing. This isn’t city. This is a desert. It just has black oil. In 50s our grandfather, grandmother build this city.We can see this are build by our grandfather. And my grandfather met my grandmother and they give birth my mother, my mother met my father. I love my hometown because I born in there. I had spend my childhood and teenage time in Karamay. This city has many delicious food. Because this city is very, very small, our daily life is eat. Because when I was younger we don’t have many many funny interesting things, so we spend much time to eat. My hometown has a famous 4A tourist attraction. There are many stones in this place. This place named the Ghost Town of the World.

I was born in Karamay and lived there for eighteen years. My grandfather‘s generation came to Xingjiang from Sichuan. At  first Karamay was just a desert, but it had lots of oil / petroleum. In the 50s our their generation built the city. Both of my grandfathers met both of my grandmothers there and they got married and had my mother and father.

I love my hometown because I was born there and because I spent my childhood and my teenage years / my adolescence there. The city has many delicious foods and, because this city is very, very small, our daily life is centered around eating. When I was younger we didn’t have many fun or interesting things to do, so we spent a lot of time eating. My hometown also has a famous 4A tourist attraction. There are many big rocks there and, it is named the Ghost Town of the World.
