Last week, I saw the movie called <Parasite>. Maybe it is the hottest movie right now.
This movie is talked about tow families-a poor family and a rich family. Both of the families have parents and a boy and a girl. The poor family don’t have jobs because of the economy. by chance, the poor family’s son gets a job as a home teacher for the rich family. And the poor family’s daughter disguises herself as a great art teacher to tutor the rich family’s son with her brother’s help. then they try to make their parents to replace the rich family’s driver and nanny. Finally the poor family all working for the rich family, attached to the rich family like parasite. The second half of the film is full of contradictions. In the end, the poor family’s father kills the rich family’s father.
This film is direct depiction of economic inequality and social class. It describes the hopelessness of the underclass. With the development of the internet, everyone can have access to the same information. It seems as if everyone can break out of his class and be who you want to be, do you what you want to do. But in fact it’s an illusion. It’s hard for underclass’s people to get the same opportunities as the upper class. Maybe you get a high level of education by studying hard, but tow people with the same degree must be who has a better background can develop better. now it seems that the class problem is not obvious, but it is there in every way.
Recent high-profile Asian films seem to be about social class-like <Parasite> ,<Shoplifters>,<Burning>. It shows that the class problem is really serious. I personally like <Burning>better. It’s more subtle and more artistic.

Last week I saw a movie called Parasite“, which is maybe the hottest film right now. This movie is about two families: a poor family and a rich family. Both of the families consist of  parents, a son and a daughter. The people from the poor family don’t have jobs because of the economy. By chance, the son gets a job as a private teacher for the rich family, so his sister disguises herself as a great art teacher to tutor the rich family’s son with her his help. After that they try to make their parents to replace the rich family’s driver and nanny. Finally the entire poor family ended up working for the rich family, attached them like a parasite. The second half of the film is full of contradictions. In the end, the poor family’s father kills the rich family’s father.
This film is a direct depiction of economic inequality and social class. It describes the hopelessness of the underclass. With the development of the internet, everyone can have access to the same information. It seems as if everyone can break out of his class, be who they want to be, and do you what they want to do. But in fact it’s an illusion. It’s hard for lower income people to get the same opportunities as the upper class. Even if they get a high level of education by studying hard, when competing against a higher income person with the same degree, the latter often is the one who develops and grows faster. Nowadays it seems that the class problem is not obvious, but it is there in every way.
Recent high-profile Asian films, such as Parasite ,Shoplifters and Burning“, talked about issues of social class. It shows that the class problem is really serious. I personally like Burning best, because it’s the most subtle and artistic.
