Vocabulary

Salary (n): 1- a fixed amount of money agreed every year as pay for an employee, usually paid directly into his or her bank account every month:
E.g.: His net monthly salary is €2,500.

Income (n): 1- money that is earned from doing work or received from investments.
E.g.: More help is needed for people on low incomes.

Predict (v): 1- to say that an event or action will happen in the future, especially as a result of knowledge or experience.
E.g.: It’s still not possible to predict exactly when earthquakes will happen.

Mortgage (n): 1- an agreement that allows you to borrow money from a bank or similar organization, especially in order to buy a house, or the amount of money itself.
E.g.: They took out a £40o,000 mortgage (= they borrowed £40o,000) to buy the house.

Tenant (n): 1- a person who pays rent for the use of land or a building.
E.g.: Tenants are complaining that vital repairs are not being done.

Repeal (v): 1- If a government repeals a law, it causes that law no longer to have any legal force.
E.g.: The congress voted to repeal the law.

Writing exercise

Yesterday my husband and i we watched a documentary regarding the expat life in portugal. Normaly laws and rules are close similar but about registration and taxes it’s different. The tax are deducted at source to compare in france. the government portuguese put an advantage not neglijable if you are expat. You don’t pay tax during 10 years, this law was created after the creasis in 2008.

Yesterday my husband and I watched a documentary regarding expat life in Portugal. Normally laws and rules are quite similar to France but registration and taxes are  different. In Portugal, taxes are deducted at source which is different from France. In Portugal, the government gives you an advantage if you are an expat, which means you don’t pay taxes for 10 year. This law was created after the crisis in 2008.
