Vocabulary

Authoritarian (adj): 1- demanding that people obey completely and refusing to allow them freedom to act as they wish:
E.g.: an authoritarian regime/government/ruler
E.g.: His manner is extremely authoritarian.

Thesis (n): 1- long piece of writing on a particular subject, especially one that is done for a higher college or university degree.
E.g.: I’m writing my master’s thesis on Democratic Transition.

Startup (n): 1- a small business that has just been started, usually acting on an innovative field.
E.g.: Startups are very vulnerable in the business world.

Barrier (n): 1- anything that prevents people from being together or understanding each other.
E.g.: Despite the language barrier (= not speaking the same language), they soon became good friends.
E.g.: Shyness is one of the biggest barriers to making friends (= something that makes this difficult).

Introvert (n): 1- a person who prefers to be alone and who’s often seen as shy.
E.g.: As an introvert, it was difficult for him to make friends.

Extrovert (n): 1- an outgoing person, who enjoys and gets energized by being around other people.
E.g.: Most sales people are extroverts.
