Vocabulary

Insomnia (n): 1- the condition of being unable to sleep, over a period of time:
E.g.: Holly suffered from insomnia caused by stress at work.

Medieval (adj): 1- related to the Middle Ages (= the period in European history from about AD 600 to AD 1500):
E.g.: This tradition dates back to medieval times.

Deviate (v): 1- to do something that is different from the usual or common way of behaving. 2- to go in a different direction:
E.g.: The recent pattern of weather deviates from the norm for this time of year.
E.g.: The path follows the river closely, occasionally deviating around a clump of trees.

Norm (n): 1- an accepted standard or a way of behaving or doing things that most people agree with. 2= a situation or type of behaviour that is expected and considered to be typical.
E.g.: Europe’s varied cultural, political and ethical norms.
E.g.: One child per family is fast becoming the norm in some countries.

Counsel (n): 1- one or more of the lawyers taking part in a legal case:
E.g.: The judge addressed counsel.

Probe (n): 1- an attempt to discover information by asking a lot of questions.
E.g.: The opposition is fighting for an FBI probe into government corruption.

Collusion (n): 1- agreement between people to act together secretly or illegally in order to deceive or cheat someone.
E.g.: The counsel will investigate wether or not there was any collusion between Trump campaign officials and Russia in order to interfere with the presidential elections.
