Vocabulary
Budget (n): 1- the amount of money you have available to spend or
E.g.: The company has an annual marketing budget of $100,000.
E.g.: The school budget is going to be cut again this year.
E.g.: The project went over budget because of a mistake at the planning stage.
Annual (adj): 1– happening once every year. 2- relating to a period of one year.
E.g.: Companies publish annual reports to inform the public about the previous year’s activities.
E.g.: You will receive annual pay increments every September.
Unfortunately (adv): 1- used to say that something is sad, disappointing, or has a bad effect. (≠ Fortunately)
E.g.: Unfortunately, I didn’t have my credit card with me, or else I would have bought it.
E.g.: Unfortunately we can’t come this evening.
E.g.: Fortunately, we got home before it started to rain.
Emergency (n): 1- something dangerous or serious, such as an accident, that happens suddenly or unexpectedly and needs fast action in order to avoid harmful results:
E.g.: How would disabled people escape in an emergency?
E.g.: Is the emergency exit suitable for wheelchairs?
E.g.: The pilot of the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on Lake Geneva.
Estimate (n/v): 1- to guess or calculate (计算) the cost, size, value, etc. of something:
E.g.: I sent the window layout to the vendor and he will send me a cost estimate by Friday.
E.g.: They estimate (that) the journey will take at least two weeks.
E.g.: It was difficult to estimate how many trees had been destroyed.
Predict (v): 1- to say that an event or action will happen in the future.
E.g.: It’s still not possible to accurately predict earthquakes (地震).
E.g.: No one could have predicted that within ten years he’d be in charge of the whole company.
