Vocabulary
Discrimination (n): 1- treating a person or particular group of people differently, especially in a worse way from the way in which you treat other people, because of their skin colour, sex, sexuality, etc.
E.g.: Racial/sex/age discrimination.
E.g.: AIDS victims often experience discrimination.
E.g.: There should be no discrimination on the of color.
E.g.: She believes the research understates the amount of discrimination women suffer.
Racism (n): 1- unfair treatment of people based on their racial background. 2- 种族主义.
E.g.: There’s still a lot of racism in most parts of the world.
Minority (n): 1- a smaller number or part.any small group in society that is different from the rest because of their race, religion, or political beliefs, or a person who belongs to such a group.
E.g.: t’s only a tiny minority of people who are causing the problem.
E.g.: Children with single parents at my school were very much in the minority (= there were very few).
E.g.: There are many religious minorities living in China.
E.g.: The plan was designed to help women and minorities overcome discrimination in the workplace.
Majority (n): 1- he larger number or part of something:
E.g.: The majority of the employees have university degrees.
E.g.: A large majority of people approve of the policy.
E.g.: In Britain women are in the/a majority.
Insist (v): 1- to say firmly or demand forcefully, especially when others disagree with or oppose what you say.
E.g.: Greg still insists (that) he did nothing wrong.
E.g.: Please go first – I insist!
E.g.: She insisted on seeing her lawyer.
Funeral (n): 1- a ceremony for burying or burning the body of a dead person.
E.g.: The funeral will be held next Friday.
E.g.: Over 300 people attended the funeral.
Life Expectancy (n): 1- 预期寿命
