Vocabulary

Survive (v): 1- to continue to live or exist, especially after coming close to dying or being destroyed or after being in a difficult or threatening situation.
E.g.: The baby was born with a heart problem and only survived for a few hours.
E.g.: These plants cannot survive in very cold conditions.

Room temperature (n): 1- the temperature that is normal inside a building, neither very hot nor very cold:
E.g.: Put the dessert in the refrigerator, because it will not set at room temperature.

Tap water (n): 1- the water that comes out of the taps in a building that are connected to the main supply of the local water system
E.g.: In America we can drink tap water.

Habit (n): 1- something that you do often and regularly, sometimes without knowing that you are doing it.
E.g.: It’s so hard to stop smoking when it’s been a lifelong habit.
E.g.: I always buy the same brand of toothpaste out of (= because of) habit.
E.g.: I’m trying not to get into (= start) the habit of always having biscuits with my coffee.
E.g.: I used to swim twice a week, but I seem to have got out of (= ended) the habit recently.
E.g.: I was taught to drive by my boyfriend and I’m afraid I’ve picked up (= caught) some of his bad habits.

Organize (v): 1- to arrange things and put them in the right place. (adj: Organized)
E.g.: My room is a mess! I need to organize it tonight.
E.g.: He’s a very organized person.

Separate (v): 1- to keep something apart (not together) or divide. 2- to make people move apart or into different places, or to move apart. 3- o start to live in a different place from your husband or wife because the relationship has ended.
E.g.: They separated the books according to their level of difficulty.
E.g.: I’ve separated the documents into three piles.
E.g.: Somehow, in the rush to get out of the building, I got separated from my mother.
E.g.: Perhaps we should separate now and meet up later.
E.g.: My parents separated when I was six and divorced a couple of years later.
