Vocabulary
Embassy (n): 1- the group of people who represent their country in a foreign country. 2- the building that these people work in.
E.g.: We used to be friendly with some people who worked at the Swedish Embassy.
E.g.: The Ambassador held a reception at the embassy.
Per se (adv): 1- by or of itself.
E.g.: Research shows that it is not divorce per se that harms children, but the continuing conflict between parents.
E.g.: When visiting Taiwan, Chinese citizen can’t get a visa per se, since Taiwan and China are considered by both governments to be the same country.
Class (n): 1- the quality of being polite, stylish or fashionable and knowing how to behave properly. (adj: Classy)
E.g.: She’s got real class.
E.g.: He was always a very classy person. A real gentleman.
Literate (adj): 1- able to read and write. 2- having knowledge of a particular subject, or a particular type of knowledge. (≠ Illiterate)
E.g.: 99% of the population is literate
E.g.: She’s trying to become more computer literate
