Vocabulary

Blend in / Blend into (v): 1- to look or seem the same as surrounding people or things and therefore not be easily noticeable:
E.g.: We tried to blend into the crowd.
E.g.: They have adopted local customs and tried to blend in with the community.

Reform (v/n): 1-  to make an improvement, especially by changing a person’s behaviour or the structure of something:
E.g.: Who will reform our unfair electoral system (选举制度)?
E.g.: For years I was an alcoholic, but I reformed when the doctors gave me six months to live.
E.g.: He was given license to reform the organization.
E.g.: He was credited with having reformed the education system.

Peak (n): 1- the highest, strongest, or best point, value, or level of skill. 2- the pointed top of a mountain, or the mountain itself.
E.g.: Prices reach a peak during August.
E.g.: We saw a victory by an athlete at the very peak of her fitness and career.
E.g.: That is one of the most difficult peaks to climb.
E.g.: Snow-covered peaks form a back-drop (背景) to beautiful mountain lakes.

Athlete (n): 1- a person who is very good at sports or physical exercise, especially one who competes in organized events:
E.g.: He became a professional athlete at the age of 16.
E.g.: She’s a very talented young athlete.
E.g.: He is currently considered to be the best British athlete.

Disrupt (v): 1-  to prevent something, especially a system, process, or event, from continuing as usual or as expected. (adj: Disruptive)(n: Disruption)
E.g.: Heavy snow disrupted travel into the city this morning.
E.g.: The meeting was disrupted by a group of protesters who shouted and threw fruit at the speaker.

Atmosphere (n): 1- the mixture of gases (气体) around the Earth. 2- the character, feeling, or mood of a place or situation:
E.g.: These factories are releasing toxic gases into the atmosphere.
E.g.: There’s a very relaxed atmosphere in our office.

Neon (n): 1- a chemical element that is a gas with no smell or colour, does not react with other chemicals, and shines red when an electric current goes through it. 2- a color or a colorful light that is very bright and strong. 3-
E.g.: The streets of Tokyo are full of neon lights at night.
E.g.: I underlined the important parts of the text using a neon highlighter (荧光笔).
