Vocabulary

Strike (n): 1- to cause a person or place to suffer severely from the effects of something very unpleasant that happens suddenly.
E.g.: I have a life insurance policy that will take care of my family if disaster strikes.
E.g.: The disease has struck the whole community, sometimes wiping out whole families.
E.g.: They predict that a large earthquake will strike the west coast before the end of the decade.

Altitude (n): 1- height above sea level.
E.g.: We are currently flying at an altitude of 15,000 meters.
E.g.: Mountain climbers use oxygen when they reach higher altitudes.

Campaign (n): 1- a planned group of especially political, business, or military activities that are intended to achieve a particular aim:
E.g.: The protests were part of their campaign against the proposed building development in the area.
E.g.: This is the latest act of terrorism in a long-standing and bloody campaign of violence.
E.g.: The endless public appearances are an inevitable part of an election campaign.
E.g.: She’s the campaign organizer for the Labor Party.
