Linear (adj): 1- involving a series of events or thoughts in which one follows another one directly:
E.g.: These mental exercises are designed to break linear thinking habits and encourage creativity.
E.g.: The movie has a non-linear plot.

Dangle (v): 1- to hang loosely, or to hold something so that it hangs loosely.
E.g.: Loose electric wires were dangling from the wall.
E.g.: He dangled the puppet in front of the children.

Drift (v): 1- to move slowly, especially as a result of outside forces, with no control over direction.
E.g.: No one noticed that the boat had begun to drift out to sea.
E.g.: A mist drifted in from the marshes.
E.g.: After the band stopped playing, people drifted away in twos and threes.
E.g.: (figurative) The talk drifted aimlessly from one subject to another.

Linguistics (n): 1- the scientific study of the structure and development of language in general or of particular languages. 2- 语言学
E.g.: He’s a linguistics professor at Harvard.

Sole (adj): 1- being one only; single. 2- not shared with anyone else (adv: Solely)
E.g.: My sole objective is to make the information more widely available.
E.g.: The sole survivor of the accident was found in the water after six hours.
E.g.: She has sole responsibility for the project.
E.g.: I have sole charge of both children all day.
