Vocabulary

Look down (v): 1-  to think that you are better than someone:
E.g.: She thinks they look down on her because she doesn’t have a job.

Although (conj): 1- despite the fact that. 2- but.
E.g.: She walked home by herself, although she knew that it was dangerous.
E.g.: He decided to go, although I begged him not to.
E.g.: He’s rather shy, although he’s not as bad as he used to be.
E.g.: She’ll be coming tonight, although I don’t know exactly when.

Even though: 1- despite the fact that.
E.g.: Even though he was bigger, he never looked down on me
E.g.: Even though he left school at 16, he still managed to become prime minister.

Even if: 1- used to say that if something is the case or not, the result is the same:
E.g.: Even if you take a taxi, you’ll still miss your train.

Ashamed (adj): 1- feeling guilty or embarrassed about something you have done or about a quality in your character:
E.g.: You’ve got nothing to be ashamed of.
E.g.: He was ashamed to admit to his mistake.

Supervise (v): 1- to watch a person or activity to make certain that everything is done correctly, safely, etc..
E.g.: The UN is supervising the distribution of aid by local agencies in the disaster area.
E.g.: The children play while two teachers supervise (= make certain that they behave correctly and are safe).

Diverse (adj): 1- including many different types of people or things.
E.g.: Students from countries as diverse as Colombia and Lithuania use Cambridge textbooks.
E.g.: New York is a very culturally diverse city.

Cosmopolitan (adj): 1- containing or having experience of people and things from many different parts of the world.
E.g.: New York is a highly cosmopolitan city.

Europe (n): 1- 欧洲

Poland (n): 1- 波兰
