Vocabulary

Type-o (noun, informal) – a spelling mistake made by accident, not because someone didn’t know

Ex. I was writing too fast and made many type-o’s.

Race (noun) – 种族

Diversity (noun) – many different types of people or things

Ex. Many universities prefer to have a lot of racial diversity (many students of different races).

Portfolio (noun) – a collection of your works (pictures, movies, shows, paintings, etc)

Ex. Whenever a model applies for a job, he or she has to send a portfolio.

Adult (adjective) – related to sex

Ex. In order to buy an adult film, you have to be over the age of 18.

Force (verb) – to make someone do something, 强势

Ex. Some children are forced to study English, but my daughter loves her English classes.

Bilingual (adjective) – related to two languages

Ex. One of my parents is Chinese, and the other is Australian, so I grew up bilingual.

Polyglot (noun) – someone who speaks more than three or four languages

Ex. My mother is a polyglot; she speaks five languages. 

Subtitles (noun) – written words at the bottom of the screen during a video thats show what the people are saying

Ex. When you’re learning a new language, it’s helpful to watch movies with subtitles.

Writing

Although I am always doing a director job, I find many difference between my previous and current job. I have worked nearly 8 years. Durning my work time, I have changed 4 companies. Maybe you’ll think it is too frequent, but it’s common to a director, because we like to make different types of programs.

My previous job is make videos on TV. I have made videos for food, traveling, music. I also be a reporter to report many activities in Shanghai. Shanghai International Film Festival, Shanghai TV Festival, music Festival，concert and so on. All the videos can be seen on TV. Maybe some will be found on Internet or microblog, but most of them is on TV. And all of them are focused on adult.

My current job is make short videos on App. You can only watch them on App, not TV or Internet. We make these videos in order to help kids learning English. Our scripts need to be written more carefully, because our actors are not real people, but animated characters

Colon ( : ) – introduced a list or a quote, but neither sentence is independent.

Semi-colon ( ; ) – related two independent sentences 

Whenever you list three or more things, you have to use the word “and” before the last thing.
