Vocabulary

Traffic Jam – an area of the road which is not moving because of some problem or an excess of cars
Traffic is really bad – all roads are jammed from an excess of cars
e.g. Sorry I’m late, the traffic was really bad tonight.
Heavy traffic – a lot of traffic
e.g. Interstate 290 is seeing a lot of heavy traffic tonight.

Excess – too much of something
e.g. We really ordered an excess of food. There is no way that we could finish it all.

Condition vs. Situation – usually “condition” describes the thing, how it is; the situation is how things around are
e.g. My car is in very good condition.
e.g. He’s in a tough situation now, because he lost his job and still has quite a bit of debt.
Conditions – this is similar to “situation”
e.g. He has very poor living conditions.

Grammar

Districter – the ending “-er” (also -or?) forms nouns, but it means “someone who does something”; it’s like 者
e.g. Writer, Skier, Singer (Doctor, Professor, Educator)
