Vocabulary

Put together / build – to take many small pieces (零配件) and make one thing

Model – a small thing that looks like a big thing; sort of a toy for grown-ups
e.g. I have a model car that looks just like a real car, but it’s only 20 cm.

零配件 – Pieces – small things that are part of something big
e.g. You can order small models online and put them together from many small pieces.

Grown-up – an adult, 长高了人, to grow up – to become an adult 长高
e.g. When I grow up, I want to be a teacher.

Toy – 玩具

Description – when you tell someone about something
Caption – a description for a picture; who is in the picture? What are they doing? Why are they doing it?
e.g. I will put pictures of my models in a book, and my friend will write beautiful descriptions/captions for them.

History – 历史

朋友圈 – Moments

Hand-made (v) / Handiwork (n) – to make something with your hands 手工
e.g. This bag is hand-made, so it costs a lot of money.
e.g. Take a look at my handiwork! These models are ones that I made myself.

Cost – how much money you have to pay to buy something, price
e.g. The cost of this coat is ¥500 = this coat costs ¥500

So – to show the result of something
e.g. I couldn’t go to the movie, so I went to eat instead = Because I couldn’t go to the movie, I went to eat instead.

Resume – to start something again that you stopped doing for some time
e.g. I stopped making models when I got very busy at work, but I hope to resume making models soon.

Grammar

“Do” in the past is “did”

When we tell someone why we do something we use “to” (and not the past)
e.g. I went to the store to buy clothes (NOT: to bought clothes)
e.g. I came to SmartEnglish to learn English (NOT: to learned English)

Have not – use have to show what happened in the past until now, and is still happening

The time when work is busy.
During this time, I can’t build any models.

Once, I do it for my friends to uesd in her wedding. Sometime I can show my works to her and then she can write some beautiful words for me.

But now，My work is too busy and then I don’t do it for more than two years.In the future,I hope to do my hobby as soon as possible.

But now, my work is too busy / I am too busy at work, and then so I don’t haven’t done it for more than two years. In the future, I hope to resume my hobby as soon as possible.
