Vocabulary

Part-time – when you don’t work a full 40-hour week 兼职
e.g. He only work part-time because he is also studying.
Internship – when you work to get experience, not for money 实习
e.g. He is doing an internship now so that he can get a real job when he graduates.

Chicken Wings – 鸡翅

Consecutive – doing something many times
Continuous – without stopping
e.g. I had McDonald’s chicken wings for three consecutive meals.

Deep-fried – 炸
Pan-fried – 煎
Stir-fried – 炒
Boil – 煮
Steam – 蒸
Roast / Barbecue – 烤
–BUT, “barbecue” can also mean a sauce!
Bake – 烘
— The difference between roasting and baking is if the fire is cooking the food directly. When roasting, you put the food in or just above the fire; when baking, you put the food in a place warmed by a fire, but not directly on the fire.
Oven – 烘箱

Sauce – 酱
Ketchup / Tomato Sauce – 番茄酱
Sweet-and-Spicy Sauce – 甜辣酱
Sweet-and-Sour Sauce – 甜酸酱
Mustard – (美式)芥末 (this one is usually yellow or brown and a little sweet)
— This is NOT the same as wasabi, which is maybe 日式芥末 (this one is usually green and spicy)
Barbecue – a tomato sauce that is sweeter and smokier
Buffalo Sauce – a spicy orange sauce usually put on chicken wings

Oyster – 生蚝,牡蛎

Green Onion / Scallions – 葱
