Vocabulary

Sticker – a piece of paper with a word or a picture, usually for kids
e.g. I voted today and got a sticker.

Belated Happy Birthday – when you missed someone’s birthday, but still want to express good wishes
e.g. Sorry I missed the day, but “belated happy birthday!”

Astrology – the study of when people were born, and the influence of stars and planets upon our lives
e.g. I am a Cancer, so I read the column in the newspaper every week telling me what will happen to Cancers.

Zodiac – the Chinese calendar divided by animals
e.g. Each year the zodiac assigns people who are born in that year an animal.

Chicken / Hen / Rooster – general, female, male
Note: the word “cock” does refer to the same thing as “rooster,” but it has other, rude meanings.

Joking to – to tell jokes to other people
e.g. I was joking to him about how people dress here.
Kidding with – joking with someone about something they did, what they are wearing, to make them feel embarrassed and laugh
e.g. I was kidding with him about his new haircut.
Joking around with – to be telling jokes or be kidding someone
e.g. I was joking around with him about his new job.
Kidding – to not be speaking seriously (just kidding)
e.g. I told him that I was going to India, but I was just kidding!

Talk – expressing meaning to another person, or having discussion
e.g. Talk to, talk with, talk at, talk about…
Say – to use you mouth to make words, to tell something
e.g. I said “January,” not “Janissary.”
e.g. I said you have to sign here!
Speak – to use your mouth to make sound, or to use a language
e.g. She is speaking (I’m not telling you what, just the action)
e.g. I can speak Spanish.

So I just kidding to my friends that there are so many Sagittarius, much more than other star sigh. I have a girlfriend in Cancer.
