Vocabulary

Fan – something for moving air when it is hot to make you feel cooler. They can be used  in the hand, or they can be electric.
e.g. Traditional Chinese fans are famous all around the world.

Calligraphy – 书法 a type of writing which is also art

Brown – 棕色 the color of tree trunks, sticks, dirt

Dirt – what the ground is made out of, what you plant things in　泥土

Type vs. Style – a type is a category of thing, kind; a style is a way of doing something, or the way something was made
e.g. This type of drink is too sweet for me.
e.g. This song is Cantonese style.
e.g. This is a Chinese style dress (it was made like the Chinese do)

Bright vs. Loud – bright means that something is like a strong light, hard to look at (about the color); loud means that something makes you notice it (how people react to the color)
— These can be used about the same kinds of colors, but they mean slightly different things.

Grammar

It has been a long time to book the class -It has been a long time since I have booked a class
— “A long time to verb,” this means that it took a long time to do, it was a slow thing, or very long
— A long time between doing it once and doing it again

If you separate two nouns by a comma, without a verb, it means that they are the same. One describes the other.
e.g. I went to Chaguan, the new teahouse.
e.g. I went to dougong cun, my girlfriend’s hometown.

When you use helping verbs, like “have to,” “need to” then you cannot use the past tense.
e.g. I have to go to see the doctor today.

Sing, sang, sung

We had two weddings. One in Shanghai and the other in Hubei Province, my hometown. Why two? Because we are from different places, so we have to have/held two weddings for our family and friends.

The type of the wedding is new traditional Chinese type, and the decorations are also traditional Chinese type. There are Chinese painting and Chinese fans and Chinese calligraphy. There are three colors in the wedding: brown, and white, and pink. No red? No, I don’t like red. It’s too over. We have a romantic ceremony in the wedding. I sing(past tense) a song for him, and I didn’t tell him before, although he asked me to sing a song for him, but I told him it was impossible for me to do like that. So when I started to sing, he was moved.
