Vocabulary

Fortunate – something that happens and is good
e.g. It was fortunate that the buyer finally called back just after the class!

Morning – both zaoshang and shangwu
Noon –
exactly 12pm (not like zhongwu)
Afternoon –
12:01 to 4 or 5
Evening –
when the Sun is going down (from maybe 5pm to dark) Night – whenever it is dark

Book – to pay for and confirm a time for a hotel room, a flight, a class time, a table at a restaurant
e.g. I usually book the last class/lesson of the evening.
Make a reservation – to confirm for a party, reserve a room for an event, reserve a book
— To book focuses more on the thing (the room, the flight) while a reservation focuses more on saving a place for a person; maybe when there is a limited number.
Perhaps similar to 预定 and 预留

Type – in one material, different characteristics; more specific
e.g. There are many types of steel.
Category – a larger group than type; more general
e.g. Steel is part of the category of all metals.

Natural Rubber – from a tree
Synthetic Rubber – made in a factory

Presently / At present – right now

Grammar

I wish I could make a lot of deals – I hope to make a lot of big deals
— Wish is something very unlikely
e.g. I wish there were no winter.
— “I wish I could” is like an ability you need to learn
e.g. I wish I could speak Chinese (I need to learn to do it, and I think it is going to be hard)

They are all used in tires – They are used to produce tires / they are all used for tires (for the production of tires)
— For is to show the reason, or the purpose
— In is to talk about all the different materials used to make something
e.g. Eggs are used to make cake (we also use milk)

By now vs. For now – by now is to tell what you have already done before the present moment; for now is tell what you are currently doing, but which might change later
e.g. By now, we have already finished the first part of deal.
e.g. I am working with natural rubber, for now (I might work on something else soon)
