Find five new words from work that you want to learn in English.
Then try to use them to write something (extra credit).

Vocabulary

Supply and demand – prices are decided based upon how much of product there is, how easily you can sell it, how many companies can sell it, and who wants to buy it
e.g. We watch the prices of rubber, which fluctuate depending upon supply and demand.

Supply chain – the different products that need to be bought to produce another product
e.g. The supply chain for tires includes rubber and sulfur (S).

Information – information doesn’t always use “the”
— When we have a piece of information, we use “the”
e.g. Can you send me the information on rubber prices today.
— When we want to talk about information in general, without talking about a specific thing, we don’t need “the”
e.g. Our company provides information on the purchase of rubber.

Increase – for the price, amount, etc. to go up or become more
e.g. Today the temperature will increase from the temperatures of last week.
e.g. The prices of rubber have already increased today.
Decrease – for prices, amounts, etc. to go down or become less

Delivery – to give a product to someone else after sale
e.g. Ashley’s company also negotiates the timing of delivery.

Grammar

-ing – used to talk about what is happening now, or at a known time in the past.
To talk in general about what happens, we can use the simple form.
e.g. The price of rubber was really fluctuating today.
e.g. The price of rubber fluctuates daily (it is always doing it, and is different from one day to the next).

That and which – these are used to add information about something you were talking about before
e.g. Jim is the guy that I was telling you about.
(Question about using “who”: Jim is who I was telling you about)
e.g. I like this tree, which we bought from the market.

When using verbs like “need,” or “want,” you should use “to” before the next verb.
e.g. I want to go the new restaurant.
e.g. I need to clean my room.
