Vocabulary

Philosophy – studying ways of thinking 哲学
Law – studying 法律
Politics – 政治学
e.g.  Nick likes to read about philosophy, law, and politics.
Subject – what you are talking about or studying
e.g. My favorite subject as a kid was English class, because I liked to read. My favorite subject now, is philosophy.

Electromyography (EMG) – to check the proper functioning of nerves 肌电图
Electroencephalography (EEG) – to check the proper functioning of the brain 脑电图
Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) – to check the proper functioning of the heart 心电图

Pattern – when something happens in the same way more than once
e.g. The pattern you can see in this ECG is not normal. This shows a problem with the heart.
e.g. The definitions above show a pattern, because they all start with the same words: “to check the proper functioning of the . . . ”
