Japanese = adjective 形容词

e.g. They were Japanese people / They were Japanese / They were Japan people

e.g. I went to Japanese / I went to Japan.

When comparing two things we add the letter -ER to the end of the verb (clean = cleaner) + the word THAN

Japanese has sometimes some location – Chinese don’t have – Chinese not clean – / Japan is cleaner than China.

China is big. Japan is not big. / China is bigger than Japan.

China is rich. Japan is rich too, but maybe China has more money / China is richer than Japan.

Was it expensive? so-so / Japan was not too expensive, and not too cheap either / Japan was neither cheap nor expensive.

In Shanghai you can live very cheaply and very expensively.
