Speaking exercise

First I don’t want to be a famous person because if you become very famous you will have a lot of pressures – you should pay attention to your behaviors when you do everything – on the other hand, if you are famous you will lose your private space – so based on that two reasons I don’t want to be a famous person.

First off, I wouldn’t want to be famous/[a celebrity] because if you became famous then you will have a whole host of new pressures – also, you would have to mind your behavior everywhere you went – additionally if you were famous your private space would be gone – so based on these two reasons I wouldn’t want to be a celebrity.

Money is an important thing for me because you need to have a lot of money for your family – every cost in your family is very expensive now – such as the tuition cost for children, and even the food price is really expensive in SH. So if you don’t have enough money the life will be difficult for you – because my daughter will enter kindergarten this summer – the tuition for each months is about 5000 RMB – so if I have two children it’s horrible things for me to burden for the cost.

Money is a priority for me because you need to have a lot of money to provide for your family – providing for a family these days is so expensive – take for example the tuition cost for children, even food prices are really expensive in SH. So if you have enough money, life will be difficult for you. My daughter will enter kindergarten this summer and tuition is around 5000 RMB per month – so if I had two children I don’t think I would be able to bear the cost.

Before we decide to have a child I think we have enough money for daily expense – because I think the salary for both of us – I think it’s then the average for Shanghai – so its enough or us to have one child – but if we want to have another one – its maybe difficult for us to have the cost.

Before we decided to have a child I determined we had enough money to cover our daily expenses – because I looked at our salaries and figured we had enough – I think at that time we were average for SH – so it was enough for us to have one child – but if we want to have another one – then maybe it would be too difficult for us to afford.

For the difference between you have a child – the most difference I think is I have no enough time to do my personal things such as I can play basketball every weekend before but after I had a child I must pay my time on her – so I lost my personal time. Because we always argue something regarding my daughter – but I think most time things get worse – I think the…two side maybe…one side is on the daily life she can’t endurance that if I have nothing to do – she will be very crazy – because she think you should pay more time on our daughter and another side is regarding the different opinion on education – she think we should provide the best education for her even we haven’t enough money to pay the high price tuitions but I think it’s not a very difference for her to ordinary kindergarten or the private kindergarten. Sometimes we are arguing for such things.

Concerning how I changed before and after having my child – the biggest difference I think is that I no longer have any time for my personal activities such as playing basketball every weekend. After I had a child, I had to spend all my time on her – so I lost all of my personal time. Because we always argue about things going on with my daughter – but I think most of the time, things have gotten worse – I think there’s two sides here: on one hand, my wife simply can’t stand if I have nothing to do – she will go nuts – because she thinks I should be spending every moment with my daughter. We also do not share the same opinion on my daughter’s education – my wife thinks we should provide the very best education for her — even if we don’t have enough money to pay the high tuition – but I think it’s not a big difference for my daughter when comparing ordinary kindergarten versus private kindergarten. Sometimes we are argue about stuff like this.
