e.g. So please take what I’m about to say with a grain of salt…in my opinion, college isn’t worth going to.

“long story short…” / it’s a lot of information, I don’t want to bore you, so I will make it much shorter. **MAKING A LONG STORY SHORT**

e.g. Long story short…my daughter was sick, the traffic was bad, and that’s why I’m late.

“at the end of the day…” / this is another way of saying “in conclusion…” or “here’s the most important thing to remember” / **WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU SAID**

e.g. Today, or just now, I said a lot of things, but the thing that I most want you to remember “at the end of the day” is this: I’m a great teacher.

degradation 降低 / is the bringing down or degrading of something that was once great and turning it into something terrible, low, disgusting
