Vocabulary

Operating System — def: the type of technology system of the computer or phone such as Android, iOS, MacOS, or Windows.

e.g. “I prefer PCs because they are cheaper and use the Windows operating system.”

Biological (生物) — def: inherited, pertaining to the blood passed down from parents to children; in animals and humans.

e.g. Many people argue which is more important: parenting style or biological inheritance (继承).

Mannerisms (矫饰) — def: a personal style, a certain way of acting that makes you think of this person.

e.g. My daughter looks like me, but she has her mother’s mannerisms.

Kindergarten — def. the school level for young children immediately before primary school.

e.g. “Is your daughter in school yet?” “Yes, she’s in kindergarten.”

Frequently — def. an action that I do often.

e.g. I exercise frequently — usually 5 to 6 times a week.

Infrequently — def. an action that I do not do often or that I do only occasionally.

e.g. I drink alcohol very infrequently, maybe 1 or 2 times a year.

Subtitles (字幕) — def: the words that run across the bottom of your screen when watching a movie in a different language.

e.g. The movie was in Spanish, but luckily it has Chinese subtitles, so I could understand the story.

Battery — Focus on breaking the words down into their syllables; battery has 2 syllables — bat-tery

Apps — Harsh, downward “Apps”.

Company — pronounced: come-puh-knee

Grammar

If you own an iPhone for many years, eventually, the performance becomes slowly becomes slower.

A benefit of buying a newer phone is improved battery life; the phone charge will last all day and you don’t need to bring an extra battery!

I left my old company four years ago.
