F2F Class Notes (Nicholas) [S + W]

Next Class Focus

Emphasis on special words…so he/she says one-two words in a special way (slower, faster, louder, quieter).

Pauses. This man, when he speaks, he often will not speak long long sentences without stopping. He will say something important but he will pause before he says it. It makes his speaking interesting.

If we use emphasis on a few words and + pauses…it makes our speaking more interesting. And our audience, won’t fall asleep.

He turns his speech into a conversation.

FORMAL SPEECH

Emphasis.

Enunciating his words. Which means I can hear every letter of every word he says. For the word iPad, community.

But it’s true. A friend who are in the boss position, she told me. when you submitted your resignation, you are not the member of this team.
This time I met the new boss in my team who impressed me. I felt cold relationship. Maybe one day I become a boss, I think I will take some time to keep old employee.

Today is my last day in this company. In fact, it’s the first time that I will say goodbye during my advertising career. I’m an emotional person. When I submitted my resignation, I felt sad, like I was saying goodbye to my younger self. And it took a long time to build my relationships then it seemed like they were all gone when I left. It’s not what I wanted — but it’s true. My friend, who is in a management position told me: when I submitted my resignation, I was no longer a member of this team.

Then I met my new boss on my new team — he impressed me. The relationship felt cold. Maybe one day I will become a boss; I think I will take some time to keep old employees.

Vocabulary

procrastinate / procrastinator — to procrastinate means (verb) you wait until the last second to do something..you do not plan carefully, you wait until the deadline and then you do your homework/assignment/work. If you procrastinate all the time, you are a procrastinator.

You don’t want to burn a bridge.” — this means if you leave something, you should try and leave on a good note, as in, try and always remain friendly with your old colleagues and even your old boss if possible because maybe one day you will need their help or they will need your help. So you don’t want to burn the bridge, because maybe you will need that “bridge” (friend) in the future.

Speaking exercise

The world is small especially in the a small industry like who knows if maybe some one day after you need my relationship you will need me or maybe you will meet a new client maybe that client that knows me. So who stupid person would do that. So what kind of person would do that? I think the mind is a mess like thinking inside or at experience I think is mind is a mess — his thinking is warped. I’m i this I worked for this company for more than 6 years. I think its a long time. In the past years, I through it …In the early years, I just went through it [endured it] and I felt happy and I felt comfortable or I felt hope…but now I feel it’s hopeless.
