Vocabulary
artist – the person
Usually if a world ends in -IST = a person
artistic – adj – describes a person who is good at art
e.g. Yara is so artistic.
artistic eye – I can see and I know what is beautiful art (even though I maybe cannot make it myself)
e.g. Nicholas is not good at painting; he is not good at drawing; he is not good at makeup; but he does have an artistic eye.
musician – a person who plays music
e.g. Some musicians can’t play an instrument but they have good ears.
balcony – 阳台
e.g. Every morning, Yara wakes up and goes to her balcony and sings a song.
strict – 严格
e.g. I also went to a very strict school. Everyday from kindergarten until grade 12, I wore a shirt and a tie.
causal – sloppy – 随便
e.g. I think some school uniforms are too casual and don’t look nice for the older students.
possess – verb – to own something – it’s very formal
e.g. I possess a very special piece of jewelry from my grandfather.
e.g. I own an iPhone. I have an iPhone. I possess an iPhone.
possessive – adj – this is a person who likes to possess things and people
e.g. One time, I had a girlfriend and she was a very possessive person: she did not like that I had other friends besides her. She wanted me to be her only friend! She wanted to own me!
possessions – these are the things that are mine – I own these things – noun
e.g. These are my favorite possessions: my iPhone, my hat, and my brown and yellow shirt.
Have (Informal) >> Own (A little Formal) >> Possess (Formal)
I posses things (and people). I am possessive. I have possessions.
I do verbs. I am adjective. I have nouns.
“I have a song stuck in my head” – I remember a song and I cannot get the song out of my head – I keep singing the song -卡住

e.g. Yara prefers listening to piano ballads.

e.g. I will go to makeup class.
e.g. Maybe in the future, I will be an artist.
Past
What did you do yesterday?
e.g. Yesterday, I had classes the whole day.
What did you do today? / What have you done today?
e.g. I woke up at 9:00 and I did my homework in my dorm, and then I went to a store to take back/[return] a clothes some clothes: it was a t-shirt, and then/[finally] I went came here to have a class.
Present
Are you tired these days?
e.g. Yes, I am tired these days.
Do you think of yourself as an artist?
e.g. No, I didn’t don’t think of myself as an artist.
Do you like living in a dorm?
e.g. It’s have There is a good side and bad side.
e.g. We can talk with each other in the dorm — it’s more fantastic so that’s nice / fantastic, but sometimes we have a lot of things / [possessions] and the dorm is too small also the dorm will be more full fuller; and we didn’t don’t have more personal space.

Came = Where are you now
Went = Where did you go
e.g. I went to America last year.
