A Boring Party

A couple days ago I went to a language exchange party. It’s named “Language Mix”.Before that, I got an online invitation from the e-mail Ads what my friend recommended. Because of the encouraged dress code for the party, I thought that would be a wonderful night. Maybe it was a ritzy bar, with a dim light and a relaxing environment, I could talk with some friendly people, make many friends who were from other countries. Turned great imaginations into terrible memories as I arrived at the gate of the party.

I didn’t think it was a party, it was like an English-corner. There is a beer bar was filled with crowds and noise and smoke. I felt like I was walking into a speakeasy bar to join a meetup. That was so bad.

And then, how did it work? First of all, I need to pay 30 yuan for the entry which was without any drinks and foods. During two hours for the party, I have to spend more money on drinks or foods.

After that, I got some flag stickers, and put on them that represent my mother language and the languages I want to learn, and used the stickers to find someone to talk.  There were not many seats for people ,maybe it could encourage us to stand during the event so that we could easily move and talk to different people, but I didn’t like that ,I prefered to sit and chat to each other.

And what’s worse is,everyone was from different language backgrounds wants to talk with more people as much as possible during these time, so that I had to change the person who I talked with every ten minutes, and these subjects of topic were similar :Chinese food or iconic locations of Shanghai. The whole night, I introduced myself  to others about 10 times and talked about “The Bund””Yuyan Garden” more than 7 times. 😓😤😤😤

I was really really not interested in the crowded meetup🤬. Although the ticket is only 30 yuan, but I spent nearly 200 yuan to get two drinks and one chips. It was not worth every penny!

Wasted money was not that bad, the worst thing I could waste was not money,it was time!

In the end,I got a message that was “Chuckie is home!🐱” from Steve who lost his cat before.I think it was the best news all night for me. If then, after this boring party, I should go to a next party, for Chuckie!🐱🎉✨
