Homework

Ten years ago, because of a business assignment, I came to Shanghai and worked for 2010 Shanghai Expo project. And that’s my new chapter was commencing in my life.

Shanghai and Beijing are both big cities, but they’re very different. Beijingers are enthusiastic, like old friends when you meet for the first time. Shanghainese are elegant, but have little indifference. As a non-local, I had been treated unfairly at that time.I don’t had any friend other than my colleagues, and I felt lonely like a duck during a flock of swans.

I was never extremely confident in being a white-collar worker in a building, I even thought maybe it’s a mistake to decide to stay in this hard city. Until I met some good and honest people, I changed my mind.

Conor who is a theatre director from London, is one of these kind people. He is a great artist, also is a important man for me.
Arts always connect and trigger our emotions. We are great supporters each other.
I constantly sketched a lot of drawings for his show, and spent much time to brainstorm some big ideas, and capture the wonderful moments for him.
At these time, He taught me how to be an optimistic person to handle some problems, and always encouraged me that never give up what you love to do, like painting. Be a creator, and build something beyond imaginations.
Drawing was my thing ever since I was little,I felt like getting closer to my dream.
Because of Conor and these kind people , it relight my desire to express something to make people feel and believe that art is the most wonderful thing.

Living in Shanghai for almost 10 years,it has truly been a life changing experience, I was blessed to meet some of the most beautiful human souls, to learn from and to love. Experience more, feel more, and love more!

Many things have awoken in me and I have truly had a long time to think about the person was and am now and who I want to be. For it, I feel I have grown not only as a boy but as an artist.

For sure, I must treasure these preciouses and take them back to Beijing in the future. I will be excited to share, make, work, play with as many people as I can.
