Vocabulary

get along (v): 1-If two or more people get along, they like each other and are friendly to each other:
E.g.: I don’t really get along with my sister’s husband.

crammed (adj): 1-very full of people or things:
E.g.: a crammed train/room
E.g.: The docks were crammed with/crammed full of people trying to board the boats.

ever since- continuously since that time:
E.g.: He’s been depressed ever since he got divorced.
E.g.: Ever since I was a child I liked to eat Chinese cuisine.

stare (v): 1-to look for a long time with the eyes wide open, especially when surprised, frightened, or thinking:
E.g.: Don’t stare at people like that, it’s rude.

stare (n): 1-a long look at something or someone with your eyes wide open:
E.g.: She gave him a long stare but didn’t answer his question.

brand-new (adj): 1-completely new, especially not yet used:
E.g.: How can he afford to buy himself a brand-new car?
E.g.: Her coat looked as if it was brand-new.
E.g.: I want to buy a brand-new Iphone

afford (v): 1-to be able to buy or do something because you have enough money or time:
E.g.: I don’t know how he can afford a new car on his salary.
E.g.: Few people are able to afford cars like that.
E.g.: I can’t afford to buy a house.

affordable (adj)not expensive:
E.g.: nice clothes at affordable prices
​2-(used about houses, etc.) able to be bought or rented by people who do not earn a lot of money:
E.g.: Now days most of the people can afford cars because cars have become affordable.

youth (n): 1-the period of your life when you are young, or the state of being young:
E.g.: I was a fairly good football player in my youth.
2- young people, both male and female, considered as a group:
E.g.: the youth of today

Writing exercise

1、I didn’t have to do my homework till late every day in my school-days and I also didn’t have to worry about being beaten if the exam was not good. I could have a spare time to feel my life, get along with friends and parents instead of spending time on cramming class.
2、On Halloween, I can cosplay with my friends and don’t care about other people’s eyes. Before I enter the university, I can give myself a long vacation to be a long-term tourist with friends, and feel the world.
3、I think that a large part of children’s cognition comes from their parents. Maybe, most of my impressions of China came from dictation that was about the years of my parents, and China in that era was backward and traditional.
