hang out (v): to spend a lot of time in a place or with someone
经常出入（某场所）；（与某人）厮混
You still hang out at the pool hall?
你仍然经常出没于台球厅吗？
I love to hang out with my friends.

emphasize (v): to show that something is very important or worth giving attention to
强调；重视
I’d just like to emphasize how important it is for people to learn foreign languages.
我只是想强调一下学习外语的重要性。
You can use italics or capitals to emphasize a word in a piece of writing.
你可以用斜体或者大写来强调文章中的某个词。

rhetorical question-a question, asked in order to make a statement, that does not expect an answer
修辞性疑问（句）；反问句
“Why do these things always happen to me?” is a rhetorical question.
“这种事情为什么老发生在我身上？”是个修辞性疑问句。

Nice to meet you-we use that after meeting someone for the first time
Nice to see you/ nice to see you again– we say this after seeing someone again

“important to” is something you value, while “important for” is something you need, or that will help you in some way.

A nice example is:

“It is important for you to get well” ~ your life will be improved by returning to health

“It is important to your family that you get well” ~ they put a high value on you being healthy.

I will tell you a true story. This friend is a very old friend for me. I met her in my high school. She and I had very happy time during my high school. Now she married and she and her husband stay in Australia so I never see her for a long time. She is a very important friend to me. My husband was introduced to me by her. Last year she came back to Shanghai, she brought many Australian presents for me. I organized a welcome party for her and her husband in Suzhou. Many high school friends came with us and we were very happy at that time. I hope she can move back and stay in Shanghai with us.
