Vocabulary

cope (v):to deal successfully with a difficult situation
(成功地)对付,应付,处理
E.g.: It must be really hard to cope with three young children and a job.

sunscreen (n):a substance that you put on your skin to prevent it from being damaged by the sun

parasol (n):a type of sunshade (= round frame covered in cloth on a stick) carried especially by women in the past, to give protection from the sun(尤指旧时妇女用的)阳伞

Speaking exercise

How do you cope with Shanghai summer?

First, at weekend I always stay at home and use AC, but on a work day I always put 2 shirts in my bag. I use hat and sun glasses and sunscreen. I went outside 30 minutes before I use sunscreen. /Usually I apply the sunscreen 30 minutes before I leave the house/I’m about to leave the house./I use sunscreen 30 minutes before I go outside.
Whenever I’m about to leave the house I’m looking for my shades/sunglasses, a hat and  bottle of water.
